Magnetic Stripe

The magnetic stripe contains information for your meal plan and access to services around campus. Therefore, when you go to the cafeteria or the Recreation Center they can simply swipe your card and you're ready to go.

UNCG Banking Partner

The UNCG FirstCard Center has partnered with Wachovia Bank to offer all students the Free College Checking Account. Once you set up your checking account with Wachovia you may use your FirstCard as an ATM card for your checking account after you have linked it. Linking it is as simple as calling the 800-number on the back of the card or visiting a local Wachovia branch.

ISO Number

This is a unidentifiable number that is tied specifically to your card. You may be asked for this number when you are renewing library books online.

Name

The name that is printed on the card is the name on file with the university. We cannot change names or put nicknames on the card. If you do have a legal name-change you must first change your name with the University Registrar's Office.

Smart Chip

This is a tiny computer on your card that can store information. This is where you put ECash and ECash 2. Please remember to take care of your Smart Chip!

ATM Network Logos

If you have linked your FirstCard to your Wachovia Checking account, you may use your card at any Wachovia ATM free of charge or at any location that displays one of these logos. Remember, there will be a charge for using a non-Wachovia ATM.
